NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Most Popular Driver Salvatore Iovino future gets a little brighter. On February 19th Salvatore competed in the NASCAR K&N Pro East Series. The Pro Series is divided into two regional series, the East and the West. Forsyth Sports learned that local resident Salvatore Iovino will be competing full time in the West Series and will be competing in select races for the East Series with tracks that included Bristol, Watkins Glen and Dover International Speedway. He finished 17th out of 27 in his East Series debut at New Smyrna Speedway which is located about 20 minutes south of Daytona International Speedway. Salvatore, stated he was very happy with his finish at New Smyrna Speedway taking into consideration he was racing in his brand new 2016 Chevy SS that was sponsored by Shakeaway and Twin Peaks. Prior to the New Smyrna Speedway race his new car had never been on the track. “My main goal for this race was to get a feel for this car, we needed to get the car set up properly and just get some seat time in the car. I am pretty confident we did just that and we are going to carry the momentum to our West Series opener on the 18th of March” said Salvatore Iovino.

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series opens up the season with four races in eight days starting in Tucson, AZ, Kern County Speedway in California and a double header at Irwindale Speedway.

Prior to his race at New Smyrna Speedway, Salvatore Iovino was very active in his local communities, giving race car fans the ability to see and sit in his brand-new car at a couple autograph signings at Shakeaway and Twin Peaks. Fans were able to get a feel for what it is like to sit in a NASCAR and take pictures of the memorable experience.

Salvatore Iovino also surprised a few classrooms at Matt Elementary. When the kids learned that he was coming to the school with his NASCAR they were beyond excited and were all sitting on the curb waiting as Salvatore Iovino drove his NASCAR into the parking lot. He spent a couple of hours spending time with them, signing autographs, and taking pictures with the very excited kids.

Salvatore stated, “This is what it is all about! There is so much hard work that goes on behind the scenes of being a driver, but when you see the faces of kids and fans, the excitement really makes a difference in my life. Being able to give them the opportunity to smile, laugh and make

their day really helps me stay motivated. Being such an inspiration to others really is inspiration to me. I truly believe in giving back to the communities in whatever form possible, whether it’s giving to charities or just spending time with others to brighten their day. To me, that matters.”

Following his race at New Smyrna Speedway, Salvatore has spent the last week in Daytona, attending Daytona 500 pre-race events with NASCAR personnel and Camping World Truck teams. He also attended the NASCAR Diversity awards held at the Daytona 500 Club, located at Daytona International Speedway, where he and his team, Patriot Motorsports Group, received a Team Award for their efforts on and off the track, that benefits communities around the world, and promotes a positive image to youth.

Salvatore, spent this past weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway working with NASCAR Diversity. Where he shared his story and inspiration to minority students that are looking to fulfill careers in journalism. Meeting with NASCAR Race Operations Jim Cassidy and NASCAR Diversity Lauren Houston in giving the students a tour through the garages and race control.

When we asked Salvatore Iovino what is the future going to hold, Salvatore replied, “My main focus right now is taking one step at a time. I am setting little goals for myself to push me to next the level of Camping World Trucks. Right now, I am staying focused on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series season, because this where I am going to continue to build my experience, get better, and make opportunities for myself in the near future. But, my truck future is looking good as I have already made some connections with some teams that have already asked me to start driving for them this season. So, we’ll see how it all works out. But I plan on racing full time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2018”
